Reflecting on sustainability

Just sat in on an interesting panel discussion on rebuilding a sustainable economy in crisis. Some of the key takeaways: 1) See uncertainty as opportunity 2) "Build forward better" 3) The world has changed "you skate to where the puck is going not to where it was" - apply this to investing in the new green economy - one example of this is the shift to de-carbonize aluminum production in Quebec through a partnership of industry/government #opportunity 4) Social skills are as important as vocational skills 5) All students need a foundational course in preparing for low carbon future - then tailor to each skill group 6) Post-secondary institutions need to teach for: resiliency; adaptability; flexibility; common language across disciplines; #education 7) We need to "re-couple" meaning we leave nobody behind 8 )Sustainability includes economic, environmental and social #sustainability
